I started to blog, at first, to keep track of my own progress, but now I know that there is no progress when you suffer with a chronic illness. There are only varying degrees of survival. So, now, I blog, hoping, that it will bring awareness and compassion to people about migraine sufferers and their disease; and that I will, one day, embrace this disease, my enemy, in the bhuddist sense, as a teacher. It will probably take the rest of my life to do that.
About Me
- Name: Jessica
- Location: California, United States
I've begun to write a book and thought it would be cool to chronicle my experiences, since this is the first time I've ever tried to write a complete novel. I won't say alot about the book on here, because of plagiarism and how that seems to be getting out of control lately. But, I'll give some hints about it along the way. Mostly I just wanted to write about the craft, about my journey and how I am going about this project. So, some days I may write about books I'm reading, the genre I'm writing about, the research (there's alot of it!) I need to do and what I'm learning from every angle in this experiment. I hope you'll enjoy reading. Please do leave a comment when you read, even if it's only to say hello. Please do not leave ads about anything unrelated to writing as I'll just delete them. Enjoy!

Our production company just produced a documentary called Life and Migraine. Our hopes are to spread migraine awareness and get more people to help themselves with their chronic headaches. You can read all about it at www.lifeandmigraine.com.

That's great, Marni. We need more people to speak out about this. The one thing that I'd request is that you all would call it Migraine, rather than referring to them as headache. Most migraneurs, as I have learned throughout the years, resent the fact that people refer to their pain as "headaches", minimalizing them, as if we could take a couple asprin and the debilitating pain would go away within fifteen minutes or half an hour. The fact is that Migraine is far and beyond a simple headache, more complex in etymology and treatment as I'm sure you learned in the course of making your documentary. I'm not trying to wheeze on your gig or anything, it's just kind of a touchy subject to those of us suffering with this chronic malady.
Thanks for letting me know about it and the next time I update my links, I'll be sure to add yours.
Jess
Hi,
I just found your blog through a search on the web. I was just diagnosed with chronic migraines--I have them 24/7 and my treatment isn't working. I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about the treatment you've had? my email is kdgibson@camden.rutgers. edu. thanks so much.
