I started to blog, at first, to keep track of my own progress, but now I know that there is no progress when you suffer with a chronic illness. There are only varying degrees of survival. So, now, I blog, hoping, that it will bring awareness and compassion to people about migraine sufferers and their disease; and that I will, one day, embrace this disease, my enemy, in the bhuddist sense, as a teacher. It will probably take the rest of my life to do that.
About Me
- Name: Jessica
- Location: California, United States
I've begun to write a book and thought it would be cool to chronicle my experiences, since this is the first time I've ever tried to write a complete novel. I won't say alot about the book on here, because of plagiarism and how that seems to be getting out of control lately. But, I'll give some hints about it along the way. Mostly I just wanted to write about the craft, about my journey and how I am going about this project. So, some days I may write about books I'm reading, the genre I'm writing about, the research (there's alot of it!) I need to do and what I'm learning from every angle in this experiment. I hope you'll enjoy reading. Please do leave a comment when you read, even if it's only to say hello. Please do not leave ads about anything unrelated to writing as I'll just delete them. Enjoy!

I found your blog through a link from Genetics and Health. I've had migraines for 17 years now and have tried vast amounts of treatment, from being overly medicated, to biofeedback, to hypnosis, chiropractic care, you name it.
Some of it worked, temporarily. Medication was a problem because I was such a young age when I first started getting migraines and they had to keep upping my doses because my body was becoming resilient.
It got to the point where doctors wanted to drain the brain fluid out of my head, and replace it with pure oxygen. That's when I gave up on trying to end my migraines.
Anyway, I'll continue to check this out. Thank you. :)
ID, I think you quit while you were ahead. I couldn't help but laugh that your docs wanted to fill your head with pure oxygen, because my parents used to tease me that that's all I had in my head growing up. Now, of course, I have the pictures to prove otherwise. lol But, I do believe you. I have heard of some really outrageous "treatments" and when I hear of them, I wonder to myself, did we really leave the dark ages behind? Then, I have to just shake my head. Anyway, take a look at this website, too, if you want to chat with other migraneurs: http://www.migrainepage.com/ That message board was a sanity saver for me more times than I can count. And, thank you for leaving your comments. I bow to your years of experience, so if I'm ever off-base or you have better info than I do, just let me know. ;)
